Last month, we received devastating news. United Way chose not to support the Imagination Library through a special educational grant. As many of the families in our program know, United Way was our last hope. Or, so we thought.
We contacted Dolly’s team at the Imagination Library. We told them that we did not receive the funding support that we so desperately needed in order to continue the program.
Then, we spoke to Jeannene at Big Red’s Barn that weekend and told her about the predicament we were in. She told us they would step in to cover 50% of our funding. It was a game changer. We were able to contact Dolly’s team and tell them that there was a change of plans. We will be continuing the program.
We are so thankful to the incredible team at Big Red’s Barn who have made our mission to advance literacy in North Idaho possible. Not only do they host our free monthly book exchange, but now they have stepped forward to co-sponsor the Imagination Library program in Shoshone County. Their partnership has been instrumental in the success of our programs. The Imagination Library would not exist without their immeasurably valuable help in the 11th hour. Each book that a child in the Silver Valley receives is a testament to their kindness and generosity.
We hope you will stop by Big Red’s Barn to thank them in the person.
